Corey Costella MEd, BCBA, LBA-VA
Hello, I'm Corey Costella, the founder of Progressive Behavior Support! With over a decade of experience as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), I have dedicated my career to making a positive impact on the lives of neurodivergent children and their families. I began practicing behavior therapy during my undergraduate years at The University of Virginia as an intern at the Virginia Institute of Autism. Soon after graduation, I received my master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education through George Washington University. My extensive training and certification as a BCBA form the foundation of my practice, but I strive to stay up to date on current practices from a variety of disciplines to ensure that my approach supports the whole child and not only their behavioral needs. This qualification and continued education reflect my commitment to evidence-based practices and the highest standards of care.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of neurodivergent children, including those with autism, PDA, ADHD, sensory processing disorders, anxiety, and various language-based needs. This diverse experience has enriched my understanding of the unique challenges and strengths that each child brings to their journey. I’ve learned the importance of recognizing and nurturing each child's individual strengths and needs. I take pride in my ability to view a child as an individual, and use this insight to tailor strategies that provide the best possible support. I believe in celebrating who the child is and helping them thrive. My experiences, education, and commitment to evidence-based practices shape the foundation of my progressive approach, which prioritizes the child's unique needs, preferences, and goals.
For eight years, I established and operated a practice in the vibrant heart of New York City. During this time, I had the privilege to supervise a team of professionals who worked with a diverse clientele and collaborate with professionals from various disciplines. My journey led me to Crozet, Virginia, where I continue my mission of providing exceptional care to neurodivergent children and their families.
